A historical fiction set in a post WW2 world in which an Irish revolutionary group allied with Germany in order to regain independence. I feel this could be quite interesting for a few reasons. It could be turned into a 'better the devil you know' cautionary tale, or present the moral conflict of fighting for your freedom alongside fascist white supremacists against your oppressors. This would be difficult to write, containing highly sensitive topics. It would require extensive research.
A fantasy adventure novel wherein the main character is or was a brigand, ordained by fate to undergo an epic quest of reluctant heroism and gritty realism. This breaks the mold of the cliched 'Human Messiah' main characters prevalent in fantasy novels, and has potential for a lot of character depth and development. It would hold major themes of redemption, and hopefully cause the reader to re-evaluate what 'heroic' really means. Careful consideration should be put in when deciding on the fantasy elements of the story, in order to avoid writing a piece too derivative or bland.
A science fiction novel which is set only twenty years in our future. The story would begin with the first ever commercial release of true virtual reality video games. The story would at first focus on setting up the premise in a grasping and intriguing manner, then move on to explaining some of the more creative applications of VR, and from there begin to explore the philosophical implications of such a technology and the effects it might have on society as a whole. Mind maps would serve well to organize or brainstorm concepts and ideas.
